Language, Media and Society
Publishing beyond boundaries
Language, Media and Society is an open-access, interdisciplinary journal dedicated to exploring how language practices and media technologies shape – and are shaped by – the societies we live in.

Founded by a collective of early-career scholars, this journal aims to provide a more flexible, inclusive, and transparent platform for academic publishing. We believe that knowledge should be shared openly, communicated clearly, and nurtured through dialogue rather than gatekeeping.

We especially welcome contributions from emerging scholars, scholars working across cultures or disciplines, and those whose work may not fit neatly into traditional academic molds. Whether it’s a full-length research article, an experimental piece, or a critical reflection, we are open to innovative formats that help push the boundaries of academic communication.

In a time when academic publishing is often slow, opaque, and overly rigid, Language, Media and Society seeks to foster a more human-centered publishing experience:

-
Flexible formatting that centers content over strict style
-
Open peer review communication that is constructive and timely
-
A platform to amplify underrepresented voices, especially from the Global South and marginalized contexts
-
Commitment to open access, with no article processing fees
-
Space for experimentation, dialogue, and the evolution of scholarly ideas
We are not just a journal—we’re building a community. One that embraces new modes of knowledge production, values care in scholarly exchange, and believes in making research more accessible and equitable.
We hope you’ll join us.
